I walked across the stage this past Thursday! I can not believe I am finally finished! It took me 8 years but in that time I’ve learned so much. I am the first in my family to have an Associate and Bachelor degree. I know that it is a huge deal for my faimly and they are extremely proud of me.
So as I finish filling out more applications, I look back at all that I accomplished and pushed through. I started this blog when I was on my own for the first time. It was a great expericed that I will enjoy and never forget. To keep some of my family informed I began this blog.
A year or two ago I began a second one for my Reading Development class. (http://noscope.tumblr.com/) I did neglect this one a bit so that is why that last update isn’t recent. The college blog became more of a re-blog things as my noscope became more of journal.
This is sad and true but this will be my last post for College Life. I walked the staged, bought my ring, flipped my tassle to the left, jumped into the San Marcos River, and had an amazing party. It’s not time to look towards the future and hope everything will turn out great!

What The Hell of the Day: A full-scale investigation has been launched by Gwinnett County Schools in Georgia into controversial math homework, which asked third-grade students to calculate the amount of cotton a slave would collect and the number of beatings he would receive in a week.
“Who would think of such questions to ask third-grade children?” asked parent Nicole Thompson, whose 8-year-old brought the questions to her attention.
According to the school district, the questionable questioned were penned by a teacher who sought to “reinforce social studies lessons through math.” It has since come to light that the homework was seen and approved by all nine third-grade teachers.
“We are looking at what human resources actions may be taken so I do believe that is a hard stance trying to determine what does that situation warrant,” said district spokeswoman Sloan Roach.
NAACP of Georgia has called on the school to fire the teacher responsible and reprimand all other parties involved in approving the lesson.
“To trivialize the suffering of slavery, and to put in a word game in math work sheet is unconscionable,” community activist Jennifer Falk is quoted as saying.

One More Thing To Worry About of the Day: 41-year-old Y&R advertising exec Suzanne Hart suffered a gruesome, Final Destination-esque death today, when she was crushed by an elevator after it suddenly shot up while she was getting in.
The incident, which occurred at the company’s 285 Madison Avenue HQ, was described by an NYFD official as follows:
Her foot or her leg are heading into the elevator while the door is open. Her one foot is in the car; but then, the doors close on her leg and the elevator shoots upward. And she is just kind of yanked up with it. Then, the elevator car becomes pinned between the first and second floor. It seems like her body is what stops the elevator’s movement.
Two passengers already inside the elevator car were not physically injured, but were described as victims of trauma.
Department of Buildings spokesman Tony Sclafani said the elevator in question was inspected this past June, and “no safety issues were found at that time and no conditions were found that would be related to this accident.”
